We have many different parts...

What a wonderful week!  Bear Necessities was recognized at the school and will be recognized at a district banquet on May 7.  You can read about it here.  I was thinking about Bear Necessities this week when I was reading in 1 Corinthians 12:14-18.  It says:

Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.  If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body.  And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,”  would that make it any less a part of the body?  If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?
But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it.

Bear Necessities is such a great example of this.  Many people participate and all are necessary for it to work.   If one person fails to answer their call to pick up a few more items one week or to set aside the time to pack &/or deliver the bags, there is a problem and a different part of the body suffers.  This community has many different parts, not just one part and each part is just where He wants it.  You are part of this body and YOU are so important and appreciated!

For next week we need the following items:

24 breakfast bars
24 cans of soup
24 cans of corn
6 boxes of raisins
14 applesauce
16 peanut butter crackers

Have a blessed week!

Thanks, Donations & Eggs

The last month has been the most excruciating of my life with the sudden decline in my dad's health and his passing this last weekend and yet, I am still able to see the overwhelming blessings that God has bestowed upon me and this community.  Despite my absence, nothing was missed.  Donation needs were met.  Bags were filled.  Things I forgot were taken care of before I realized I had even forgotten.  I've said it again and again, Bear Necessities is not about one person doing a great thing.  Bear Necessities is a community behaving in the way that God intended for a community to behave.  Never would I have dreamed, ten years ago, how God was blessing me by putting us in this community of amazing beautiful people!  From the depths of my heart, thank you to each of you for all you do!

I'm excited to report that we were able to work with John Weldon's FIT Team and provide breakfast for the Bear Necessities kids for the weeks of MAP testing as well. Bags went home with cereal bars, fruit, oatmeal and juice for them.  Thank you to the FIT Team for working with us to bless our kids!

Next week, we have just a few needs:

23 cans of chilli
16 cans of beefaroni
24 cans of peas
8 applasauce

If these are filled quickly, I will post the next week's needs.

I also wanted to let everyone know about something happening at John Weldon this weekend.  It is NOT A SCHOOL EVENT but is being sponsored by 2Rivers Church at the school grounds.  April 7, 1-3 p.m. they will have their "Eggnormous Hunt."  They will have 10,000 eggs, inflatables, face painting, popcorn, carnival games and prizes.  I haven't been before but it sure sounds fun!  The event is free and the egg hunt times are as follows:

baby-3 @ 1:40 p.m.             4-7 @ 2:00 p.m.           8-11 @ 2:20 p.m.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend and be sure to love on the people in your life every single day!
